Self Guided Learning in Davis- CPR BLS, ACLS, and PALS Courses

Healthcare professionals in Davis no longer need to block off a full day for life-saving training. Self-Guided Learning™ courses for BLS, ACLS, and PALS from the American Heart Association® let you complete online cognitive learning on your own schedule—then verify your skills at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center close to home.

Safety Training Seminars operates its Davis training center at 508 2nd Street, Suite 208D, Davis, CA 95616—on the corner of 2nd and D Street, just minutes from UC Davis campus, the Davis Amtrak Station, and Sutter Davis Hospital. The office is open Monday through Sunday, 8 AM to 10 PM, making it one of the most accessible CPR Verification Station centers in Yolo County.

Self-Guided Learning in Davis

What Is a Self-Guided Learning™ Course?

A Self-Guided Learning course combines two components: an adaptive online learning activity and a self-guided skills session completed at a CPR Verification Station learning center.

There is no scheduled classroom event. No fixed group times. You move at your own pace.

This approach works for healthcare professionals at Sutter Davis Hospital, staff rotating through UC Davis Health in Sacramento, nursing students from the UC Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, and medical professionals commuting from Woodland, Dixon, and West Sacramento.

How the Online Learning Activity Works

The cognitive portion uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously assesses your knowledge and confidence level, then adjusts the content path based on what you already understand.

Struggling with advanced airway algorithms? The system spends more time there. Already confident on chest compression ratios? It moves on. The result is an efficient, personalized learning pathway—not a one-size-fits-all lecture.

You can access it on any compatible device—desktop, laptop, or tablet—anytime, anywhere.

  • BLS online course: 1–2 hours
  • ACLS online course: 2–3 hours
  • PALS online course: 2–3 hours

Completing the online activity alone does not result in an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard. You must complete both components.

How the Self-Guided Skills Session Works

Once you finish the online learning activity, you schedule your hands-on skills session at the CPR Verification Station learning center at the Davis office.

The session is self-directed. There is no live instructor coaching or facilitation. You perform the required psychomotor skills—chest compressions, ventilations, two-rescuer CPR—and the station provides real-time, objective performance feedback based on AHA-defined criteria.

If your performance doesn’t meet the standard, you can repeat the required skills activity as needed to achieve a passing score.

  • BLS skills session: approximately 30 minutes
  • ACLS skills session: approximately 30 minutes
  • PALS skills session: approximately 30 minutes

Upon successful completion of both the online learning activity and the self-guided skills session, you receive your American Heart Association Course Completion eCard the same day.
